About Moab Music Festival
Moab Music Festival is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that presents an award-winning chamber music festival, under the tagline music in concert with the landscape®. Our mission is to connect music, the landscape, and people through world-class, innovative music events and education. The annual fall festival is held at a variety of venues, mostly outdoors, and requires an appreciation of nature and outdoor life, as well as chamber music.
The annual winter festival, Winterlude, focuses on education and engagement of the local community through guest artist performances and workshops. The festival has a small and dedicated group of year-round staff, mostly situated in Moab with some remote colleagues.

About The Position
The Director of Education and Community Engagement is responsible for the planning, administration, and execution of Moab Music Festival's education and engagement programs. This includes community and school workshops, assemblies, and performances, student music scholarships, music teacher grants, summer string camp, musical story hours, and other programs, as well as festival volunteer recruitment and coordination. The Director of Education and Community Engagement serves as an ambassador for Moab Music Festival, representing the organization at community events and it is a key responsibility for this role to cultivate and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in the community, as well as developing new partnerships that can expand access to music education and music experiences in Moab.
A successful candidate will plan and coordinate existing programs while evaluating their effectiveness and impact to ensure alignment with the needs of the community. The Director of Education and Community Engagement will also be a key player in developing new educational and outreach programs that align with Moab Music Festival's mission to connect music, the landscape, and people through world-class, innovative musical performances and education. Job responsibilities can be adapted to the right candidate in dialogue with the Executive Director.
**ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES**
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director, Artistic Administrator, Marketing Director and Executive Director to produce and develop music education and engagement programs.
- Represent the Moab Music Festival as a spokesperson and presenter of our work through educational events and performances.
- Research and survey local community and key stakeholders to evaluate existing programs and provide feedback for future development.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Director of Development in raising philanthropic funding to support educational programming.
- Prepare for and attend board Community Engagement Committee meetings as needed.
**Education Programs**
- Serve as the primary point of contact for area schools including the Grand County School District, Moab Charter School, and USU-Moab.
- Schedule school assembly programs in collaboration with school principals and festival staff.
- Coordinate production and delivery of ancillary instruction and program materials, such as assembly pre/post curriculum and program surveys.
- Collaborate with local music programs and par
tner organizations to help prepare and execute the annual Summer String Camp.
- Provide direction for contracted teaching artists involved in aspects of educational programming.
- Administer music teacher grants and student music scholarship applications and notifications.
**Community Engagement**
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community organizations to facilitate the development and delivery of engagement programs.
- Plan and coordinate free concert events at Old City Park, the Grand Center, Canyonlands Care Center, Sips & Sounds, Musical Story Hour, Winterlude workshops, open rehearsal , etc. in collaboration with festival staff.
- Recruit, supervise, and support volunteers during festival events as needed, in collaboration with the Front of House manager.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with volunteers; arrange and host volunteer orientations, training and appreciation events.
**REQUIREMENTS AND PROFICIENCIES**
We're looking for someone with a positive attitude, the ability to take initiative and work independently towards deadlines, and an abiding love of music. It's important that you have knowledge of education or community programs in an arts organization setting and it's an advantage if you have experience with program development and a music education background.
