The Olympic Club, a private member athletic and country club in San Francisco, seeks an
PGA Intern for our Lakeside Clubhouse. At The Olympic Club, our members enjoy 2 campuses, 19 sports, world-renowned golf courses, exceptional social and athletic programs as well as 18 hotel rooms and 5 Food & Beverage outlets. Our City Clubhouse is located one block from Union Square and within easy walking distance of the Powell Street BART station. Our Lakeside Clubhouse sits next to the ocean on the border of San Francisco and Daly City.
The Olympic Club offers employees free lunch and dinner, golf on Mondays at our Lakeside campus, and a variety of sports and social events for employees throughout the year as well as lunch and dinner provided every day.
Position Summary
The PGA Intern is responsible for the day-to-day member and guest services operations in the Golf Pro Shop. Reports directly to the Assistant Head Golf Professional.
Essential Functions And R Esponsibilities
- The day-to-day member and guest services operations in the Golf Pro Shop including member services, retail sales and counter work
- Handles organization of daily starting times and flow of play
- Assists with receiving merchandise, stocking shelves and shop displays
- Handles special merchandising orders from members and forwards them to Administrative Assistant / Buyer for processing and routing to the Accounting department
- Assists Head Golf Pro and Asst. Head Golf Pro in the coordination and implementation of tournament play for Men, Women, Senior and Junior events. Coordinates reciprocal club play
- Assist members with club repairs, fittings, clinics, camps with the Assistant Head Pro’s
- If passed level 1 of the PGA, provides instruction to members upon request
- Play golf with members and play in Professional NCPGA Tournaments
- Administrative duties including but not limited to ordering supplies, returning phone calls, corresponding via email, fax and phone
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager or other management of The Club
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
- Full knowledge of golf rules, regulations and tournament play
- Ability to interact with all levels of membership
- Intermediate computer skills
- Have fluent oral and written English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- PGA Class A member, and have a handicap of 5 or less
- Calligraphy writing skills
- Prior tournament experience and participation
